#Sparkistan - Uplifting stories from The Land of the Pure!

Atlas Battery has initiated #Sparkistan - a campaign to acknowledge some amazing Pakistanis who have made substantive contributions and are yet unrecognized. This campaign is about bringing a positive image of Pakistan into the lime light and to talk about the courage and determination of these 15 unsung heroes who have made us all proud. 

#Sparkistan was lauched with a beautiful anthem. 

Here are four of my favourite stories from #Sparkistan! 

• Nazir Sabir 

Nazir Sabir is a Pakistani mountaineer born in Hunza valley. He was born in Hunza. He has climbed Mount Everest and four of the five 8000 m peaks in Pakistan, including the world's second highest mountain K2 in 1981, Gasherbrum II 8035m Broad Peak 8050m in 1982, and Gasherbrum I (Hidden Peak) 8068m in 1992. He became the first from Pakistan to have climbed Everest on 17 May 2000 as a team member on the Mountain Madness Everest Expedition led by Christine Boskoff from USA that also included famed Everest climber Peter Habeler of Austria and eight Canadians. For his outstanding achievements he earned the prestigious President's Award for Pride-of-Performance in 1982 and was honored with The Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2001 for his outstanding performance in mountaineering sports.

• Aneeqa Bano and Afzal Rasool

Aneeqa Bano and Afzal Rasool are impacting lives of hundreds by providing deaf children with an education and safe shelter. The resolve and spark in them to help the disabled has led them all this way to a successful mission with their school project. Their story is really heart touching and emotional because they started the school after failing to find education opportunities for their own deaf daughter. They have started an NGO focused to work for the deaf particularly and the special children as well. This is the first organization in Skurdu that is committed to work for the development of deaf people.

• Azima Haider Zaidi 

Azima is a 2 year old girl with physical disability and uses prosthetic limbs to function and create art using different mediums. She was selected as a YES (Youth Exchange and Study) exchange student and got a lifetime opportunity to travel to U.S and exchange my culture like an active Pakistani ambassador. She is young, energetic and has a very positive outlook towards life. She wants to pursue her dreams and start her own organization that will focus on inclusive education.

• Rooma Sayyedian and Siblings 

Rooma Sayyedian and her siblings hold the record for being the youngest Microsoft Certified Professionals across the globe. Their record has brought Pakistan in the global limelight for producing young and qualified IT professionals. Rooma became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified professional. She gained and achieved many of the Microsoft certified modules, including the Microsoft Certified Information technology professional, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, along with 15 months’ experience in the networking field. Following on her footsteps, her three younger siblings took the same path and earned the certifications at even younger ages.
